I've been looking for the right place to write what happened between "360 security & myself" for quite some time now! Please tell me if you think I was scammed by what you're about to read. In October 2018, I bought at Walmart the Canon Wireless Printer for $40.00. When I tried to get the printer to work, I was having trouble. I called the toll-free # on the box the printer came in for tech help. A man answered the phone from Canon and he asked me for permission to help set-up my printer. I permitted him to come into my PC to help me. For some odd reason, he went to my Vipre Security settings and told me my Vipre security is compatible using Windows 8 & not Windows 8.1! I told him I've had Vipre for over 10 years and all of our PCs in my home & it's good for a lifetime with their program! We paid one flat rate price when we bought the Vipre Security program! We've never had any issues with Vipre and their tech support is excellent and they've always answered the phone right away! We've always got instant live help since we've been using Vipre! He then placed me on hold for a minute. Suddenly, I was talking with another person who came to the phone & he was inside of my PC. he took over helping me (So I thought!) & he said he was from Microsoft? (What the heck is going on? I thought!) He proceeded to tell me that Vipre isn't covering my Network and anyone can hack into my network. Under the compatibility where my Vipre was located on my laptop in the file under compatibility. He showed me that it's only compatible with Windows 7! This man proceeded to start to straighten out my files on my desktop and he was cleaning up my files. Has he was doing this he was also on taking with me on the phone. He spoke broken English & I couldn't understand many words he was saying to me. I was scared of him because of his tone with me over the phone. He was harsh with me & he started to get rude with me and wasn't a pleasant person whatsoever. I was starting to feel very nervous! I started to think to myself, "I didn't ask for all this whatsoever!" I wanted my Canon printer to print and that's all! After this man was finished cleaning up my files? He then told me he installed the "360 security program" on my Laptop, to protect me. I never asked for any new security program to have installed on my laptop! Then? Did I think maybe he's trying to do me a favor? He then placed a telephone number at the bottom of my screen on my laptop and told me if I had any issues with the 360 security program to call that number! He told me to hold on for a minute and at the time I went to the landline phone downstairs in my home and called that number he placed on my screen. The person who answered the phone was from Canon Printer! It had nothing to do with 360 security! The man came back to the phone & he opened up my notepad on my laptop, and he told me to pay him $440 for the 360 security program! I was freaking out and said to him "Are You Kidding Me?" I could buy two brand new Laptops for that much money!" Then he said to me ok I'll cut the amount in half. "I'll bring it down to $220." Then he asked me, "how would you like to pay for this?" I wanted this man out from being inside of my laptop, so much! I was scared of him by his mean tone towards me! I figured if I didn't pay the money? He could do something to hurt my PC since he had access to everything being inside my Laptop! Maybe, he could give me a virus or screw something up if I didn't pay this money to him! I figured that if I paid him the $220. & charge it on my credit card, then I'd cancel the 360 security program, ASAP! Now, it's a year later, and I still haven't been able to print out on my new wireless Canon printer. I couldn't cancel the 360 security program! ( It's a very long story!) I called my credit card company & told them I believe I was scammed! They investigated and I couldn't prove anything so I had to pay! I don't know how Canon printer tech help turned into a Security program when I called to get my new printer running! Never did anything happen like this in my life before! After 2 weeks of using the 360 security program? It didn't work anymore! Each time I tried to scan with 360? I would get a message to "UPGRADE!" I was so upset with this who sham! They wanted $440. to give me two weeks of Security? I found it funny they could lower the price to $220.! Goes to show you just how much these people rip us all off! Whenever I try to use any special feature on the 360 security program, I get that dang message to "Upgrade!" After this was over, I went to check the compatibility with this security program he installed and it was the same has my Vipre was which like I said above Windows 8! The 360 also was Compatible with Windows 8 & not Windows 8.1! So in October 2018, not only was I down $220 for a security program, I didn't even need it! But I still can't get my new Canon printer to print! That was a very expensive tech support phone call I made to Canon that day! I have to ask has anyone else had a similar incident experience happen to them with 360 or any other security program? Is Canon, in cahoots with 360 security? How could a toll-free number on a Canon printer box get me involved with the 360 security program! The sad thing about all of this? I'm very sickly with 2 debilitating illnesses and I'm not able to do many things like I could when I was stronger. With the medicines I'm on for my illness(s) I can't think fast enough. I feel I was taken advantage of big time! Thank you for reading what happened to me. Have a wonderful day!
